PARIS GRAMANN
Ever wonder, why I never wonder, about you?
You promised me the world
You promised to make OUR world
But I quickly found out it was flat
Promises on promises, but, all they were were promises
The hope in my heart, it dripped out
YOUR world, you wanted to MAKE your world
And iiiii wanted YOU to succeed
But the c e e d in “succeed” didn’t turn into the
Seed that you need
Because you didn’t water the trees.
Ever wonder why I never wonder about you?
I SAID,
Ever wonder, why I never wonder, about you.
The thing is, I do. I think about you once a month, twice a month, once a week, twice a week, once a minute, twice a minute.
And maybe that is more than you need
Promises on promises, but, all they were were promises
Excitement in me turned fake
A “good job”, and “you go, boy” became emptier and emptier.
I found out that I am NOT what you need
Inspiration, I don’t know how to sustain it
And I don’t think that I can maintain it
Not in you, not for you,
For YOU are the hope that you need.
Promises on promises
You promised you were done with this
But empty, it was on your lips
Man oh man, do I need a man. And you, honey, need one looking back in the mirror.
Cause Promises, real promises, will get you a Mrs., but right now, you’ll be missing me.
